Seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to drive deployment, support, and continuous improvement of MES, with a focus on Werum PAS-X. The role demands deep technical expertise, leadership, and a proactive approach in regulated manufacturing environments.
Part of a global IT team, this role supports MES and related applications critical to AstraZeneca’s manufacturing operations.
Main responsibilities of the role are:
- Provide Technical Leadership: Deliver expert guidance and hands-on support for PAS-X system administration, trouble shooting, and performance optimization.
- multi-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, IT, and Automation teams to ensure seamless MES integration with ERP, LIMS, SCADA, and other enterprise systems.
- Incident & Problem Management: Lead the resolution of MES-related issues through root cause analysis and implementation of permanent corrective actions.
- Documentation & Compliance: Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, configuration guides, and SOPs, ensuring alignment to GMP, GAMP5, and 21 CFR Part 11 standards.
- Team Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers and support staff in MES best practices and PAS-X technical expertise.
- Change & Validation Management: Participate in change control processes, system upgrades, and validation activities to maintain system integrity and compliance.
- PAS-X Deployment: Manage end-to-end PAS-X MES solution deployments, encompassing requirements gathering, configuration, testing, validation, and launch support.
- System Performance & Stability: Ensure optimal performance and reliability of MES systems supporting AstraZeneca Manufacturing Operations, including identifying and implementing long-term solutions.
- MES Support Oversight: Oversee MES support functions, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
- Advanced Technical Support: Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for technical queries, bug fixes, and minor enhancements, in alignment with AstraZeneca standards and change control procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing system performance and operational efficiency.
- Project Leadership: Lead PAS-X project delivery efforts as needed, ensuring successful execution and stake holder alignment.
Essential Experience: (Must have skills)
- 6+ years of experience in MES implementation and support (L2/L3), with at least 4 years of hands-on experience with Werum PAS-X.
- 1+ years of demonstrated experience managing and supporting a Manufacturing Execution System, PAS-X would be an advantage.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industries.
- Proficiency in PAS-X configuration, MBR design, and system integration.
- Experience with SQL, Oracle databases, and scripting using PowerShell and or other automation tools like MS PowerApps or Power Automate for automation and reporting.
- Familiarity with ISA-95, S88 standards, and integration with Level 2/3 systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stake holder management skills.
- Demonstrable ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge on incident, problem, change and release management following ITIL processes.
- Experienced on IT Service Management tools like ServiceNow.
- 2+ years of prior experience working with DevOps and Scrum methodologies. Understanding in project management methodologies, tools, and guideline.
- Team skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization, internally and externally and Effective engagement with senior leaders.
Educational Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree: B. Tech / B.E. or an equivalent technical qualification.
- Postgraduate Degree: MBA or master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- MES, Oracle Administration, or Windows Server Administration certification.
- ITIL v3 Foundation certification.
